Buying a snowboard, need help? I want to purchase a snowboard as I have been renting for about 7 years and I really want to get my own. I consider myself an advanced boarder (prefer black diamonds and riding through powder and trees) but have very little knowledge of what makes a retail snowboard ideal for my riding style. Could I please have some advice of the most important features of a good snowboard, bindings, boots, etc and perhaps some suggestions on which ones are good? As I said I like exploring the mountain, advanced trails, not that much tricks and freestyle terrain. My height is 5'10.5" and weight is around 160 if that helps. I don't know how much I will have to spend but I'm guessing I will spend around 400-600 for the whole package, maybe more if its absolutely necessary? You tell me how much I need to spend but I'm not going crazy here. Thanks in advance! My shoe size is 12 We would need to know your foot size as well to make some informed suggestions.
Here are some general tips.
Where your nose is, does not determine what size of snowboard you should ride!
...or your chin, ears, shoulders or any other body part for that matter. These are the silliest rules for sizing boards that could possibly be imagined, and yet they persist. We hear new ones everyday, "my friend told me that a board should come to in between my chin and my nose." Why, are you planning to nibble on it? These generalities are good ways to end up with a completely inappropriate board. Why do such rules exist, you ask? It is due to the fact that finding the right board takes a bit of research and knowledge. The easy way, however incorrect, is much quicker. A snowboard reacts to only two factors, how much pressure is being applied to it (weight), and where that pressure is coming from (shoe size). Boards are designed around riders of a certain weight. The total weight range for a given board will be around 50 pounds (although manufacturers tend to exaggerate this range to make their products sellable to a wider variety of customers). Two men who stand six feet tall and have their noses at identical heights, may be separated by 100 pounds of weight. This would change the boards they should ride by two entire categories of stiffness, and length. You will also want to make sure that the board is appropriate for your shoe size. One half to three quarters of an inch of overhang (yes, overhang) off the edge of your board is ideal (when wearing snowboard boots, and measured at the stance angle that you will ride). We will discuss this more below when we address width in detail.
There is no best level of stiffness for a board!
At least five times a day we hear,"the guy at mountain told me that I want a soft board." This is the part that we were discussing above that relates to weight. Snowboards react to pressure that is applied to that hourglass shape (sidecut) that they have. This shape, when flexed, creates an arc on the snow. You are planning on turning on that arc. If you can't flex the sidecut into the snow (because the board is too stiff for you) you simply can't turn well, or not at all. If the board is too soft for your weight, it will constantly be overflexing, and "twisting off" of the edge that you are relying on to carve. In this scenario you will have a terrible time on hardpack and ice, because the "effective edge" (amount of edge that should be in contact with the snow) will be twisted out of shape, and not doing it's job. Softer flexing boards tend to be better for lighter riders, while stiffer boards are needed for the big boys. Only for extreme freestyle, or extreme race applications, should this rule be broken (and in those instances, a second board will be needed for all mountain riding).
Buying by length is the hardest way to end up with the right board!
"My last board was a 156, and I liked it, so tell me about the 156's that you carry." The trick here, is that two boards of identical length, may be designed for completely different riders and types of riding. For example a 156 may be a "big mountain board" for a small woman, or a "park" board for a big guy, depending on the manufacturer's design plan. Those two boards, however, would never be appropriate for the same rider. Length is often discussed in terms of: longer equals faster, and more stable, while shorter equals more maneuverable. This can also be deceptive. The "running surface" of a board (the base area that contacts the snow) is a useful measurement, because this is the amount of board that you actually are riding upon. The overall length (the measurement usually considered) can be misleading, as it also contains the raised tip and tail, which do not contact the snow, and have only nuance differences in affecting your ride. Your best bet is research. Look into who the board was made for, and for what type of riding. Leave the rules of thumb to the rental guys, who are trying to get through the line of renters as quickly as possible, and get on the slopes (can't blame 'em for that).

Where is the best place to buy a diamond watch? I am looking for a mens gold plated/bonded (not toned) with genuine diamonds in it, black dial and round rather square. I have been looking at Citizens Electra Eco Drive that retail around $500 because they look good, but I am not too happy with my last citizen watches performance. It would be a good rig with the parts you selected, but I have a few recommendations.
First off, that is a very high end video card, it would be a better use of money to go down one step on the graphics card and use that extra $75-100 for the CPU. You would get a higher frame rate from a slightly less powerful gpu combined with something like a 3 or 3.16ghz cpu, and for roughly the same amount.
Secondly, The 7050 chipset is meant for budget machines, if you can find a mobo with a X series Intel chipset, it would be more well suited.
I know people are going to rip you for having Vista, but modern graphics cards need Vista to use their memory allocating drivers correctly. For instance, my x1600 in my laptop allocates 256mb in XP, and 769mb in Vista. It runs significantly better with Vista. Anything older than a x1000 or 6 series Nvidia would run better on XP, thats why people have the idea XP is better.

Does anyone have a Clinique in their Macy's makeup sections? If so, read this!? This is a treat for anyone who has Clinique in Macy's. Clinique is giving away free samples of eye liner and tubes of rinse-off foaming cleanser. You can choose either chocolate lovers brown or black diamond for the eye liners. They have a shimmer to them. Its a full stick of eye liner and retails for 15 bucks, so its worth a quick trip to the store. As far as I know, one eye liner and one foaming cleanser per a customer. The cleanser tube is pretty big too.I'm not affiliated with macy's or clinique, just a makeup buyer :)I just got my samples today and I love them. The eye liner is so smooth and gives off a nice shimmer. I got diamond black, which is good for an intense look. My cousin got the brown, and it looks great as well.I like the cleanser, I used it tonight. It removed my makeup and also left my skin feeling fresh. You only need to put a little dab on wet hands and rub it around.So has anyone else tried these samples? I'm thinking that I will buy the full bottle of the cleanser, what do you guys think?

what is the retail value of this diamond? It is a natural black diamond-1.39 carats tw. I just want to know what the value is. Thanks Tough to say with out actually seeing the Black Diamond in person. This is a field in which Hands-ON is Best.
I can Tell you this, average wholesale price on Black Diamonds is about $50-$75 Dollars per carat right now and the average retail mark-up is about 5 times. So rough calculation: 1.39x$75x5=approx $520.00

I checked out all the stuff you've selected, and it will all work together fine. If you wanted to save yourself the trouble of installing new video drivers, you could go with an nvidia based video card since your motherboard has an nvidia chipset. Honestly, though the ati card is at an excellent price, an EVGA brand nvidia card would be a better choice in the end, because PhysX is about to take off within the next year, and you don't want to be stuck with a card that doesn't support it. If you plan on doing any overclocking, make sure you buy at least one extra case fan and a better heatsink/fan assembly for the processor. since you're buying an OEM DVD burner and an OEM hard drive, make sure that your motherboard comes with SATA cables, or else buy some on your own. I would suggest buying some just in case, they're fairly cheap, and it's good to have some lying around. Smart move buying the thermal glue, a lot of people forget that.
Note that your motherboard LAN port has only 10/100 mbps speed, so consider buying a 10/100/1000 (gigabit) ethernet adapter and stick it in a pci slot if you're thinking about hooking it up to any sort of network.
Also, notice that you're not going to have very many USB ports. You'll have 4 on the back I/O panel and 2 on the front if you choose to connect them, and 6 USB ports can run out very quickly if you're like me. If you think it might be a problem, then you should consider a pci USB card. If not, don't worry about it.
I checked over your stuff pretty closely, and it all matches up. I'm actually also a little worried about your power supply. I've never used one below 500 watts, so I'm not sure how well a 400 watt one will hold up with such a big video card and the newer processor (which takes up more power than the old ones). However, I would certainly like to suggest that you consider buying an nvidia card. but you may feel differently, and that's okay too because I'm only giving advice. If you do decide to look at nvidia cards instead, the one that compares to the radeon HD 4870 is the GTX 260. It beats the radeon card in all the baseline tests and in crysis and COD4 tests, but it pretty much averages about the same as the ati card because it's slightly under it in other tests (only by about 5% to 8% at the most, whereas it wins by about 7% to 10%.

The 4850 will suffice for plenty of games, even though it isn't the latest card out. Usually buying the super best, latest greatest graphics card is a waste of money.
Your Core 2 Duo should be fine also. 4gb of RAM is a good choice. If you are running Windows XP/Vista 32bit you will use approximatly 3.2 gigs of the 4gb, but that is OK. As of now 32bit runs more programs because they are all mostly designed for 32bit as of this point in time. I'm sure that will change in the future.

Hobby box versus Retail Box ?!?!? 1998/99 UD Black Diamond Basketball? I am new to the world of purchasing sports cards, and this one really gets me. I want to buy a box of basketball cards, specifically the 1998/1999 UD Black Diamond box. But, I see that some boxes are sold as "Hobby Boxes" and others are sold as "Retail" boxes. Each box has the same set of cards and same sets of packs. Which should I buy? Is it a matter of getting a better selection of cards? I have not been in the sports card hobby for some time, but I do know that many series of hobby and retail boxes differ in the insert cards. Some insert sets are exclusive for hobby boxes only, and some hobby boxes come with oversized-cards or special one-per-box insert.
