I ran a weird BICYCLE green light but i didnt see a flash? It was last at nite, i was at a weird intersection, where they have a bicycle light. Your not suppose to make any turns when the green bicycle light comes on, b/c pedestrains and biycles are suppose to use up the whole intersection/crosswalk. But i thought it was just a green light, so i made a right turn and i notice they had a red light camera w/ flash, but i didn't see a flash... does that mean im ok? Yeah, the camera is more interested in a car than a bicycle, probably isn't even pointed at the bicycle lane.

Can I modify my current led bicycle light with a more powerful led? I am currently using a led headlight from a bicycle lighting company but recently my dated led headlight that produces 150 lumens fails in comparison with the newer headlights on the market. So I have been researching newer led's that produces massive lumen outputs. I have settled on one led in particular and its the SST-90. I want to know if I can simply solder the new led into position and it work. My battery is a 6 volt 3ah NiMH. the new led should tell you what voltage and milliamps it requires. if it's the same, then just solder it in. if not you may have to rewire the pwer supply

Use a flasher relay connected to a three position toggle switch for your directionals. You will need to install a limit switch for the brakes to push against for the brake light. The headlight can be pretty much the lens and lamp from any sufficient flashlight. I recommend using a rechargable battery pack to store energy from the dc generator.

The disadvantage of a flashlight would be way too narrow a light beam...not wide enough to see much of the road in front of you. The only advantage to using a flashlight as opposed to NO light at all is at least you'd be visible to on-coming traffic.

Both lights will light up the road very well, you can see for a good distance. I will add that unless you are considering riding constantly at night for long periods of time spending 3 and 4 hundred dollars on lights for a bike is really ridiculous, that's just my opinion.

If you are riding on streets, you need remarkably little light to see where you are going. However, you really want to be seen quite well. Being seen well requires flashers - preferable a white and a red one and a minimalistic headlight. Inexpensive LED's should fit the bill well here. If you want rechargables, expect to spend a bit more.
If you really need light to see with, you need to figure out how much battery life you need. Battery life, brightness, weight and dollars are all very closely related. Halogen, HID, and LED's are your choices. Nearly all of these lights come with rechargeable batteries. The most expensive lights (longest battery life and least weight) tend to use Lithium ION batteries.
If you want to post back with some additional parameters, I am sure you'll get plenty of recommendations.

How to Power a Light with a Bicycle? Lets imagine that you want to power a lamp in your bedroom. The light bulb is connected to a 12 volt car battery. You want to pedal a bicycle to charge the battery. What accessories are needed to make this happen? how will it work? how much pedaling is needed to charge the battery? how long will the battery last with the light on before it needs another charge? I know its a lot of questions.. although i'm thinking about going green. Unfortunately, powering a light by pedaling a bicycle is not very efficient, at all. Burning coal to spin enormous turbines is.
If you really wanted to though, you would connect the pedals to spin a generator which would power the battery and then the light.
But I doubt this would work too well, if you want to "go green" solar panels would be better.
