What is the best flashlight in the range of £40? I am looking for a flashlight that is bright, but also gives you a long distance beam. The LED Lenser seems to be the best one out there, but there must be other ones that are just as good or even better than it. Do you have any ideas? ps. Flash light not spot light :) Maglite have not been the best for 10 years, even the Police have dumped them because of their poor performance. The LED Lenser P7 is the Best you can get for that price and even out performs Torches twice the price. Shop around though as they are advertised at £44 but my old man got one for £38 last month.

What are some of the best rechargeable flashlights (solar/winding/shaking/plug-in/etc)? I think I would like a solar or electrical outlet plug-in rechargeable flashlight for home use, especially for power outages, and a winding/shaking one to keep in the glove box of my vehicle. have been using this brand for years at work.
i have tried a couple wind up lights in my vehicle and they dont last. i think the temp and humidity swings have an effect on generator and/or battery. i now have an LED 2 cell for the car now. it holds up fine.
i've had good luck with this wind up from radio shack. keep it in the house near crawl space for emergency reasons. tornado/asteroid strike or nuke fall out. (gosh i hope none of this ever happens)

What are the best LED flashlights out there? A friend of mine let me borrow his surefire led flashlight to take camping. It was awesome. Small, light, tough, very bright and waterproof. I know that surefires are expensive. But are they the best? Are there any other companies that make similar or better LED flashlights? Cheaper? The main thing I want them to have is to be tough, reliable, bright and waterproof. A lifetime warranty or better would be awesome as well as it seems that most if not all of surefire's flashlights come with one. I'm a big fan of the surefire flashlights!
I also have a 3 watt Maglite AA. It puts out great light but, it's tempermental at times - batteries, contacts, some days it just doesn't like me. Other than that it's a good size, with a good reflector, and good light out put. My complaint is that you need two hands to turn it on and you can't get the accessory push button switch.
Pelican head lamps are very good too - unconditional lifetime warranty, very durable, go with the LED as the others can drain batteries quickly.

My experience has been that Flashlights are rated by Lumens.
(IN MY OPINION) The average size in LED flashlights takes 3 aaa batteries and should put out no less than 70 lumens being about the size of a Large Cigar..
This would typically be a 3 watt led . There are also many other sizes 1 watt bulbs and 5 watt bulbs etc.....Obviously the higher you go,the more batteries you go through.
When I am searching for a bulb/flashlight I like to compare most lumens per dollar.It's very important to make sure they take my preffered kinds of batteries (AA OR AAA) are all that I use.I don't recommend CR123 batteries simply because they cost sooo much and the CR123 rechargeables never last very long.
You should be able to get a good sized and good looking 100 to 150 lumens light for under $30 on Ebay.For typical usage that should be enough.Of course you can go crazy and get like triple 5 watt LED flashlights but you're gonna pay big for it.
A few names that I have purchased and had good luck with are CREE and SUREFIRE . I think CREE is the name of a bulb but sticking with products with those or Brand Names That You Have Trusted In The Past . Is the best way to go!

What is the best brand of LED Flashlights under 25$ that i can buy in stores? I need a flashlights for everyday use at home and would like to buy it at the store. I would like to be able to see pretty far with it and for it to be super bright. Depends what you plan on using the light for. i`d use a headlamp for backpacking and rock climbing. Obviously you`ll need a special light if you plan on scuba diving.The large maglights are great if you need it to double as a baton for protection but they are way too heavy for backpacking. Surefire is one of the top flashlights around, both the military and police dept use them. But as with the best of anything the price tag will be up there.
If you are looking for a camping flashlight get a headlamp. Your hands will be free to cook, work with maps, rummage through your backpack, settle down in your tent. No more putting the flashlight in your mouth or under your arm.
