there are mobile key cutters that can bypass the immobilser system , should be a lot cheaper that ordering a new barrel , do a bit of searching on the internet , they will be able to cut a key should be around 50-80 pounds

How to get replacement keys for motorcycle.? I have a classic 1989 Honda. The keys are lost and I don't want to have to change the fuel cap, ignition switch & seat lock. How do you go about getting replacements? If I take the barrel to a Locksmith can they give me a key? Possibly go to a Honda dealer with the serial number (might ask for ownership to verify your not a thief), and see if they can make a set from the number (like they can for cars) or as you suggest yes a locksmith could do it. With the lock a locksmith will be able to determine the settings to cut a set of keys. Although I have a lock set that the locksmith could not make a key for. They tried for over two weeks to make a new key but were unsuccessful. So I had to order 4 new locks. I also have another vehicle that most locksmiths can not make a key for so again if I have to have a key made I'm out of luck besides going to a dealer at $100 per key.

The 1994 ignition barrel from a 205 has 6 wires on a plastic pin connector.
Coincidently, SO DOES THE 306.
I have extras of both out in my garage. I will now immediately check for Pin connector match? and the outside diameter of both. It must fit inside the black metal tube in the steering column, that surrounds it.
THE SIMILARITIES:
Both barrels are 34 mm in diameter. It will physically fit.
Both of my examples are from PETROL CARS!
THE DIFFERENCES:
....THE 205 has 4 heavy wires. Green, Yellow, Red, Orange. after 12 inches, the Red and Green divide into two smaller gauge wires. Now you have 6 wires.
Both red wires end in a 4 pin, brown connector in positions 1 and 4.
The heavy Yellow, Orange Green and Green end in an identical size connector, but white, in positions 4,3,2,1 respectively.
Total length of the wires is about 30 inches. important under the dash!
....MY 306 barrell is from a 1994, Phase One 306, with only 13 fuses in the fusebox, and a simplified electric layout. It has 6 heavy wires immediately from the barrel. They are all only about 10 inches long! (too short for your 205??)
They are grouped in pairs, and the 3 plastic connectors are totally different in size and shape from the 205.
MY DOUBTS:
The 205 never had an ECU (electronic control unit) in 1994. The 306 Phase Two probably had one after May,1997. Not sure about Phase One 1993- May 97.
So, when you turn your 306 ignition key to position 1....what happens? I don't know!
I was wrong about schematics...I don't have anything for diesels that shows the glow plugs warming up in key position1. sorry.
MY experience. I had to buy an ignition barrel several years ago. 80 euro? = 64 quid? And it fit perfectly, and I had NO connectors to change.
I'm afraid I must suggest you buy a new one, OR get an old one off the same type car. Less work, and you're sure.

No short cuts, unfortunately.
You need to remove all the plastic shroud around the steering wheel and take the bracket holding the barrel off.
From memory you need to use a hammer and a chisel or an old screwdrive to unwind the blind bolt.
Ring up a wreckers, they will know how to do it with their eyes shut.
