My ignition barrel wont switch off on my 51 plate Picasso, so it wont stop or start!? We went to the hospital and the Key would turn! so i wiggled it about until it moved, Problem is the Engine wont turn off and when you stall stop it, it wont start again! and the dash-board lights stay on and the Air-con has pact up! can anyone help me? The ignition lock is faulty and unless you disconnect the battery it will go flat if it already hasn't.
You need the help of a garage an a Citroen one will probably get it fixed more quickly.

ignition barrel ceased? please help anyone, i bought this car(saxo vtr) on thursday,yesterday i pulled into my drive and attempted to turn off the engine, however the key was jammed pretty hard wouldnt turn at all, i moved the key towards me with a little pressure and eventually it turned all 3 stages and pulled out, then the dashboard lights stayed on, no matter what i did this wouldnt change, i disconnected the battery earlier 2day and then like a yellow light with a box and key appeared on the dashboard still nothing, i thought i mite need a new barrel, can anyone tell me any different? please help thanks alot sounds like you need a new ignition barrell and key as for the light on the dash the key has lost its code to the ecu new key has to be coded at the dealers

How to change Ignition barrel in Audi 80? When i took out the key, the contact lights were still lighting and the engine was working. I turned the engine off but not the contact lights. I tried to start ignition of the engine, but the key was just turning inside and nothing happened. Any help is very welcome. Thanx a lot! As long as the key still unlocks the ignition its a dead easy job to replace the barrel.
You will need to get a new lock barrel from Audi (£50). Then remove the plastic covers from the steering column, inset the key and turn the key to the normal running position. Looking at the top of the barrel you will see a small round hole, this hole is duplicated on the bottom of the barrel. Place a small screw driver in the top hole, another in the bottom and push both in. If you then pull on the ignition key the whole lock barrel will come out.

Key won't turn in the ignition? Let me start by saying that I am not an idiot when it comes to cars and if I need to rip the steering column apart, I am prepared to do so. My key will physically go into the ignition with no problem, but when I go to turn the key, it won't budge. I've tried jiggling the wheel thinking maybe my wheel lock was preventing me from turning the key, but that did not work. I then tried jiggling the gear knob, thinking maybe the car was not all the way in park, and had no success. Thinking maybe the key barrel was frozen since it is 1 degree, I tried heating my key up with a lighter and sticking it in there. I even tried repeatedly punching my steering wheel out of frustration, but nothing seems to work. I fear that my key barrel may be shot. Not sure if this has anything to do with it, but when I left for work at 8:00 this morning, I had trouble getting the key to turn, but pulled it out and flipped it over and it worked 1st try. Then, getting out of my car at work today, I went to pull the key OUT and it wouldn't budge, even after the car was off...I solved that one by jingling the gear branch a bit and it finally came out after a struggle. I have a 1998 Ford, and I'm pretty sure there is no chip in the key. Please offer any help you can. I'd be greatful! Thanks! I have my car key, my house key, my gun safe key and a small hook on my key chain and nothing else. I don't think that would have done it, but then again, you would know better than I would. Thanks! how do I get the ignition barrel out of my ford fiesta 1995 model (M Reg)? Im trying to get the barrel out of the ignition of my ford fiesta 1995 mach 3 (M reg) because the key wont turn all the way. When it used to start it was a little temperemental and you could feel it stop at 45 degrees for a second and then as your forced it with your thumb it would go to the next position (which would light up the dashboard symbols) and then continue to the next position after that and start the car. But now, it wont turn around at all. It just stops at 45 degrees. So ive been reading forums and phoning service companys and rather than pay 100's of pounds to get it replaced, I think I can do this myself with the right info. Luckily, I just got the key to turn into the next possition before the car starts and in doing that Ive taken the bottom plastic panel off and its exposed the inner environment to which the barrel sits in. Ive also taken the plastic "O" shaped thing off from around the barrel which I did by unscrewing the screw which was holding in possition. Now the ignition barrel seat is fully exposed. Ive tried pulling out the metal head from the seating but it wont come out. Ive read on numerous forums that there is a button or hole with a button inside "on top of the barrel" and this needs to be pressed in order for the "spring mechanism" to let it go...well I cant find it. Ive looked all around the damn thing and if its there, its pretty hidden and Im utterly pissed off now. What on earth is it that I need to do to get this stupid ignition head thing out? on some vehicles you put the ignition switch in acc. and on the barrel there is a small hole that you can push a paper clip in and release the lock. wiggle the key and pull while pushing in on the paper clip. i dont know if your set up is like this or not but check it out.

how can I unlock the ignition on a vauxhall cavalier ls 1.8 petrol? I have take all the casing, indicator and light switches off, but the key will not turn in the ignition and the steering lock is on. I have also sprayed WD40 down the ignition barrel. Any ideas please????? Thank You. hi mate i had the same problem....right if u removed all the housing from around the ignition barrel....there is a little hole on the barrel u need to put a screw driver in it or a nail... then put ur key it a try and turn it a little and pull it out while turned then push (as hard as u can) on the nail or screw driver while pulling on the key and hopefully the barrel pops out,once out u can service it
i had to do it a rite pain in the ass...but worth it when done took me over a hour to do so have fun

citroen saxo ecu problem? i have a 98 citroen saxo 1litre injected,the ecu is chipped but that is what broke it,the imobilzer key light stays on,citroen main dealers wanted 750euro for the ecu way to much,i went to a scrap yard and the said 80,what im tryin to find out is will it work if i just swap it over,but i was told i need to replace the ignition barrel aswell since it might be coded,thanks Thats what happens when boy racers start messing!

engine management light flashing on p reg corsa, car ticks over but doen't start, any ideas wht it could be?? The car is not injection (its carbeurreter), the car has been unused for about a month and i changed the ignition barrel because the keys were lost. any help would be hugely appreciated. Try checking to see if fuel is coming out of the jets on the carbeurator when the accel pedal is pushed, if fuel is coming out, then check your spark plugs, wires, distributor etc., if no fuel is coming out, then either take it apart and clean it or replace it.

how do you configure a new ignition barrel? new barrel in steering column, turn key, all lights come on then turn key to start but nothing happens? any suggestions gratefully received does it have a seperate decoder ring on the barrel, is it pluged in? have you left it on the old barrel? what is the immob light doing?
