To monitor the temperature of an auto cooling system you decide to develop a new temperature scale that reads from 0 to 100. Please tell me how you derive to the answer, not just the answer The range -45 C to +115 C is 160 degrees celcius, therefore the ratio of C to A is 1.6 to 1. Given that the A scale starts at zero and the bottom of the C range starts at -45, you'll need to offset any C numbers by +45 to avoid any negative A numbers. This means that if you take any C value, add 45 to it and divide by 1.6, you'll get the equivalent A value.
So, the expression is A=(C+45)/1.6
Let's try it out:
If C is -45, A is (-45+45)/1.6 = 0
If C is 115, A is (115+45)/1.6=100
If C is 0, A is (0+45)/1.6=28.125

My home central A/C unit will only come on when set to "on" when set to "auto" I hear it running outside but the inside unit does not come on. Does anyone know what the problem might be. My electricity bill was much more expensive last month due to this. (if it helps, I have a programmable electronic thermometer. In the auto mode, the thermostat makes the fan output terminal "Hot" to allow the indoor fan to operate automatically, when there is a call for cooling. In the "On" position, the fan output terminal is constantly "Hot"- allowing a constant fan operation. If the fan does not operate in the automatic position, while there is a call for cooling, the sub base is defective- Replace the thermostat, as this will resolve the issue

does digital thermometer have any expiry date? Because my thermometer took 10 min to record the temperature. Starting new Saltwater Aquarium...Need hwlp W/ checklist please? I'm planning on settnig up a 46 gal bow tank SWA FOWLR. i have no experience, but did A LOT of reading. I'm plannin on getting some base rock, and a little bit of LR to speed up the process. How much LR would I need? Here's what i'm plannin on buying. Does this list look good? Am i missing anything. Is it okay to have different power powerheads? i cant afford a sump so forget that idea.' now about the rock.. i was think about staritng small. Getting 20 lbs of base rock and adding maybe 5- 10lbs of live on top of it. Then when i get some more $$ adding more base. Being that base doesn't have to be cured, i don't see how this could be a problem. My other question is if i do decide to add extra base, would i be able ot lift the old live rock and place it under, or would i have to place the ugly base on top?? Thanks again Your list looks good. If I may make a few suggestions, one 150 watt heater would be sufficient, and also remove some of the clutter inside the tank. Jager is an excellent brand, but I also recommend the Visi-Therm Stealth Heater for its inconspicuous design and reliability.
The Aquaball Powerhead is also okay, but if you want a more dispersed flow using less space, check out the Hydor Koralia Nano (240 gph). The Koralia is also great for reef tanks, if you decide to add corals in the future.
Coralife skimmers also have good reviews, but I recommend the Octopus HB-100. It's very efficient, and has a more compact design.
My preferred water conditioners are Prime and AmQuel+, but Reverse Osmosis/Distilled (RO/DI) water is best for your aquarium, and eliminates the need for conditioners all together. You can buy RO/DI water from a grocery store, bottled water store, or make your own with an RO/DI unit. I use the 5-Stage system from BulkReefSupply.com
Lastly, hydrometers are okay, but they tend to loose their accuracy over time. You may want to invest in a refractometer in the future. They are more accurate and reliable, and easily recalibrated when necessary.
Either way you go, your setup should do well. You want 1-2 pounds of live rock per gallon, and at least 1 pound of sand per gallon. I also have to commend you on the QT. Most hobbyist (including myself) don't start off with a QT. I wouldn't keep a tank with out one now.

Engine Coolant Thermometer...? The Check Engine light went on for my 2001 Volvo S40 1.8T and I took it to Advanced Auto Parts for diagnostics. The diagnostics said that there was a failure in the engine coolant thermometer. They said they sell this part. Does anyone know if this would be a replacement that I could do on my own or if I should just bring it for service? It's not a straight shot at the sensor and just pulling it out. You have to remove some coolant from the radiator, remove the reservoir cover, the splash guard under the engine (to get to the radiator drain), remove the thermostat housing, fuel rail cover, upper camshaft cover, remove a fuel injector connector to swing the therm cover out of the way and then remove the ECT connector and part. Plan on about 2 hours+ taking your time, not breaking any covers and putting everything back the way it was originally. I hope this helps.

What should be the supply temperature of an air conditioning system in the summer? Hi, I am having problems cooling my house - I was wondering if anyone can tell me what the normal temperature taken at the vents should be in the summertime? I used an auto ac thermometer....outside air temps are between 90 and 100, house only cools down to 76 and wont get any lower (keeps running).... thanks I am reading 57 degrees at the vents - its an 1125 square foot one story house house with a 2.5 ton system... Do AC systems typically put out cool air less than 57 degrees at the vents? The vents are not blowing evenly so I think I have a ductwork problem, but want to make sure my system is blowing air thats the right temp first... I have cleaned the condensor, but i think my pressures may be off because of faulty ductwrk- will the pressures affect the temp of the air being produced by the system? the unit IS in direct sunlight. Will providing some sort of shade cover really help? thanks for the answers- everyone ROCKS! should be between 20 an 30 degrees cooler than the intake temp to drop that temp your A coil may be dirty or your outside unit may be in direct sun or it may also be clogged up with grass or dust which will result in high head pressure and cause your condensing temp to be warm it dosent take much to change the temp try cleaning your a coil with a brush and soapy water and spraying your outside unit out with a water hose if that dosent work your unit may need to be charged

You wish these points to correspond to 0° and 100°A, respectively. At what temperature would your thermometer and a Celcius thermometer give the same numerical reading? The explaination of this is not that easy to do, I hope this helps..
The question is asking you to design your own temp scale from 1 - 100 to represent ethylene glycol from it's freezing to boiling point.
nb (the temp scale deg celcius was based on water, 0 deg Celcius - freezing point of water. 100 deg celcius = boiling point water)
You want A to go from 0 - 100 A
So you need 0 deg A to be the freezing point of ethylene glycol (-45 deg C)
You need 100 deg A to be the boiling point of ethylene glycol (115 deg C)
The difference betwee -45 deg C and 115 deg C = 160 deg C
So you need to fit 160 deg into your 0-100 scale
Work out how many deg C are going to fit into every deg A
160 / 100
= 1.6
So every one of your new scale (deg A) will represent 1.6 deg Celcius
1 deg A = 1.6 deg C
You can draw it out if it helps, I have done it in 10 deg A increments
10 deg A = 16 deg C

Now we need an equation to convert from A to C
We know that 1 A = 1.6 C
And we know that the deg scale starts at -45
So C = (1.6 x A) -45
And if we rearrange the equation we get
A = (C + 45) / 1.6
Try it with 115 deg C
deg A = (115 deg C + 45) / 1.6
= 100 deg A
which is exactly what we wanted 100 deg A to = 115 deg C
when A = 0
C = (1.6 x A) -45
= (1.6 x 0 deg A) -45
= -45 deg C
So at 0 deg A we have -45 deg Cel, also what we wanted, so looks like the equations are good
Now, when deg A and deg C are the same on each scale you can say that
deg A = deg C
which means
A = C = (1.6 x A) -45 = (C + 45) / 1.6
We can solve this for A or C
So A = (1.6 x A) -45
A = 1.6A - 45
therefore 1.6 A - A = 45
therefore 0.6 A = 45
therefore A = 45 / 0.6
= 75 deg A
So A will equal C at 75 deg on the scale.
Lets check it
75 deg C in deg A =
deg A = (C + 45) / 1.6
deg A = (75 deg C + 45) / 1.6
= 75 deg A
and
75 deg A in deg C
deg C = (1.6 x deg A) -45
deg C = (1.6 x 75 deg A) -45
= 75 deg C

How long should a freezer defrost? I just moved into a new apartment. All the appliances are brand new as I'm the first resident of the unit. The refrigerator has an auto-defrost cycle. How long should that stay on for, and how often should it be defrosting? It seems to be defrosting every couple days and is on long enough to bring the freezer temp up to 50 degrees. I put a thermometer inside to see. Is this normal? Anyway to adjust the length of the cycle? I've looked in the manual and it only mentions the defrost cycle. Thanks in advance! As it's new, just call the landlord. It's under warranty to him. Shouldn't get to 50.
