MLB 09 The Show, Majors? I recently got MLB 09 the Show for the PS3(I know kinda late) However I started a RTTS and enterred the draft. I was drafted to the Dodgers, made it to AAA my first season, In the 2nd season however, I wasnt invited to spring training but Im back in AAA and Its august and I'm hitting .330... My question is really, how long on average does it take to make it to the big leagues. My manager keeps saying they want to give me more time in the minors but I'm impatient for a few reasons. A) I want to be on the Mets(im a huge mets fan) and know that wont happen til I make the majors and go through arbitration or get traded B) I just want to play against people I know, not fake people So how long does it take to make the majors if you are hitting well... I keep reaching all my goals. Do you think I'll make the September Callups when the rosters expand or what? I realize with arbitration and a bunch of other things Oops that line at the end was supposed to say, I realize with arbitration, contract renewals and whatever, its unlikely I can be a free agent and sign with the mets for a while. But I want to make the majors to atleast start on my way to a ring or something First of all it depends on the position battle. Im not a Mets fan so i wouldn't know. My rtts player is a 1st baseman on the Red Socks. I got called up to triple-a my first year about after the all star break. The second year i was the starter in triple-a the whole year. My third year that i'm playing in right now im the started for the Socks and am the leader for the MVP, Rookie of the Year, Silver Slugger and other home run award (forgot what it was called). What i did was went to a team that has good teams in all 3 leagues double-a, triple-a, and the MLB team. If you make it into the playoffs one year you have no goals and your training points gets doubled. Also what I did was went for hitting streaks. Once you have like a 30 game hitting streak you get like a 100 point bonus. After every game i saved if i got a hit the last game but if i didn't i just quit and played that game over and over again until i got a hit. Doing this will give you bonus points so it can give you more training points to make your guy better. Also my guys stats at the beginning of September are: .550 Ave. 270 hits (broke record) 27 doubles, 9 triples, 57 home runs, about 150 RBI's 10 stolen bases, a few errors. If you just have plenty of hits, and keep that hitting streak alive you'll be in good shape. One last thing on the back of your player card there is a scouting report thing and once you get your overall like a "B" or a "A" you should get called up and that's what they mean about your experience not being good enough.
What are the Tampa Bay Rays telling their fans? Today the Ray's management basicly told their fans that they are giving up on the season by sending their starting 3B, Evan Longoria down to AAA. Longoria clearly won the job this spring so the only reason for this was to delay Longoria eligibility for arbitration by one year. After building what could be a good back end of the bullpen with Percival, Reyes and Wheeler and finally having a descent staff with Shields, Kazmir and Garza the Rays just said money is more important. People will say Mil did the same thing last year with Braun but Braun was not heralded to be as good a prospect as Longoria. In fact going into last year the big 3B porspect was Alex Gordon. When are the Indians going to call up Carlos Santana?? The fans should be outraged? I have him on both of my fantasy teams and it is ridiculous that this man is not on the major league roster. Santana is tearing up AAA pitching and current C Lou Marson is a stiff. Are they waiting until he goes into a slump so they can bring him up when he's ice cold? And if they know this kid is the real deal then why not avoid the whole arbitration thing by signing him long term right now. What about an 8 year, $48 million dollar contract right now. It will look like a steal in 2 years As a long time Indians fan I too would love to see him in the majors, but I also know how cheap this team is. He'll be up this year, but not until all arbitration dates have been passed. And as far as signing him to a long term contract they won't do that. As sad as it is he will probably be like the rest of their good players.....tear it up until it's contract time and then instead of paying him what he's earned and keep him they will trade him away from some prospects and repeat the process.
MLB 10 RTTS question? My 2nd basemen on RTTS is now 27. I was in AA for 1 year, AAA for 1.5 years, then MLB for 4 years then AAA for .5 years then MLB for 1 year. After the last year the brewers offered to extend my contract by 2 years for 660k. I didn't accept and kept on simulating the off-season. After about a month they told me I was going to have to file for arbitration because I don't have 6 years of MLB service. I decided to be stupid and put 1 year for 10m. When my arbitration hearing date came up I was very surprised to find out they accept it for 1 year and 10m. However, I am now playing a bench role in AA. What gives? Any explanations? I am also 3/6 for the organization rank. I've never had any serious injuries or anything like that. Direct TV Legal Help...PLEASE? Two days ago my dad purchased DirecTV due to a advertisement in his AAA magazine. When they came to install the package my dad asked me to sign the contract (I'm 21) since he is disabled and has some trouble writing. He could have signed it if he wanted to. So I signed the contract in front of the Directv rep who didn't state anything. After checking the statement on the internet the next day I realized the programing they had given us was not as advertised. I also noticed we were short a 5 dollar rebate as stated in the fine print of the advertisement. I called trying to resolve the issue but was told that I was given the channel package because it's what my father had asked for...not true. They also told me that I was no longer entitled to the rebate because I had picked a different package. After about an hour I just gave up. I want to cancel my service with them now but know that they will charge a fee. I need to know if there is anyway my dad can get out since technically they had an agreement with my father not me and I was the one who signed it...I have read there contract and know how to go through arbitration but I was just curious about my signature. Also, is it anything I can get in trouble for even though the rep didn't say anything.
You signed the contract as your dad's agent which is essentially the same as your father signing the contract. Once the contract is signed, you have three days to cancel the contract without penalty. After that, you're pretty much on the hook.
I'm a little surprised that the customer service representatives weren't willing to work with you. I would try again and speak to a different representative or ask to speak with a manager.

I just read an ariticle in the Seattle times about the Mariners bringing up their 2009 first round draft pick (Dustin Ackley) from AAA to the Majors this weekend and it said something about the "Super-Two arbitration cutoff" coming up in mid June. The way the article was written implied that teams don't know the exact date of this cutoff.
What is the "Super-Two arbitration cutoff" and how does it affect a team's decision regarding when to bring up a prospect from AAA? Also why wouldn't an arbitration cut-off be a pre-determined date?
17% of the players called up each year will get the Super 2 status. Until you see exactly all the guys called up, and when... you don't know which guys will fall into that top 17%
As far as why it affects teams... Super 2's get to arbitration one year sooner, and then get 4 years of it before they are free agents.
A Super 2 (in his 3rd year) might make $3M if he's good. Then $5M, then $8M... without the Super 2, the guy in his 3rd year might only make $800K, then $3M, then $5... big savings for the team

From you point of view, a AAA clause would probably work best, by keeping fees down. Small claims is cheap, but it may not be the best remedy for you if the employee causes more damage than is allowed to be recovered under that court.

This happened a while back with Mauer. Yankee fans were saying that they wouldn't be interested in him since they already have Posada..My only answer to that is.."ARE YOU CRAZY?" People like Crawford and Mauer still have plenty of years left in them. Anyone they had would be out the door.
But back to your question. The Tigers would be definate playoff contenders. Compared to the Sox and Twins right now (If everyone managed to stay healthy) The Tigers with that roster would have it down in the bag.

Arbitration is jurisprudentially close to my heart Mr. Dave spoke about his arbitration practice, and about his optimism for arbitration, despite the fact that in India it has not really taken off as it has in Singapore or Dubai. The arbitration process suffers from various challenges, but jurisprudentially it is very dear to my heart. He also spoke about his desire to see arbitration institutions strengthened. There are thirty five to forty million cases in the docks, and it is impossible for the courts to deliver justice as quickly as they are required to. According to him, arbitration is a necessity because commercial disputes require a quick and amicable resolution litigation is time consuming, doesn t give finality, and can often be bitter. Mr. Dave sits on the Board of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA), the American Arbitration Association (AAA) and the London Court of International Arbitration ( the LCIA ), which has decided to set up the India chapter of the LCIA to provide some institutional support. This pleases Mr. Dave, as he feels that in India, arbitration is substantially ad hoc, which leads to serious shortcomings in the arbitration process and only through institutional arbitrations can there be some amount of control on the process. As he puts it, I think arbitration has a great future in India, but we will all have to work very hard, young and senior lawyers both, because the judges distrust the arbitration process and have put in a number of breaks in the arbitration
