i have the numark dj io box and i'm trying to connect my 500 watts speakers but i can't hear any sound....is t? The numark mixer does not have an amp - you need to connect an amplifier to it if you are using normal unpowered speakers OR you can get powered speakers with an amp built in.

Would a 745 watt amp support 2 500 watt speakers? I'm not very good at car audio. I want to put some door speakers in my truck and they are 500 watts a piece. I have a 745 watt amp. Would the 745 watt amp support those 2 new speakers along with my other 2 stock speakers(a total of 4 speakers)? I dont need it to be super loud or anything, just sound good at normal levels. Oh and right now I have my stock radio/deck in it, but I will probably be buying a new deck soon. ok, first those speakers r not 500 watts thats the peak, the peak number means nothing, u want the rms rating, but if i had to guess id say those speakers r probly 100watts rms. how many channels is the amp. if the amp is a two channel ul fri the speakers. if it's a four channel amp it might work.

Can I use 500 watt speakers with a 300 watt amp? I want to buy a floor monitor for my band, but I'm not sure if a 500 watt monitor will create problems with my Yamaha EMX 312 amp. Hi Mark,
There should not be any problems since your monitor can support a higher outpout than your Yamaha amp.
I don't know in witch condition you will use that monitor (studio-practice, stage ?) the important is not to go over 7.5 in volume, past that it will create distortion, especially if you have added FX.

What amp should I buy for two Peavey Messenger Pro 12 MKII - 500 Watt Speakers? I don't understand amps. I've had bad experience with them blowing on me. Can anyone tell me what the best amplifier for these 4 Ohm speakers are? Do you need the watt of the amp to be higher or lower? Or what? Would really appreciate if someone could clear this up for me. They are 250 Watt (rms) and 4 ohms impedance. What does all this mean and what amp should I buy? I'm not really an expert on this subject, but I have asked a lot of questions to people who are.
Most good quality amps are rated at so many watts at 8 ohms, e.g. 100 watts (rms) at 8 ohms; most amps or speakers rated at 8 ohms can also handle 4 ohms. However, because the amp normally would be rated 8 ohms at 100 watts at 4 ohms, the amp's power would double to 200 watts rms to each speaker. RMS is an acronym that stands for root mean square.
You can use an amp that is rated at 50-200 watts rms. Just remember that if the amp is rated at 8 ohms, the power doubles. So if you bought a 200 watt amp, it would be 400 watts rms. You wouldn't want to have the volume very loud. Also, make sure to connect positive with positive and negative to negative. One speaker wire can have words or lines on them. Use the one with words or lines on them as your positive and the ones without words or lines as your negative.
If you have any questions, I suggest you go to your local Peavey dealer and ask them.

The SL series all around in the door and the back.
I recommend the 6.5 in the doors and the 6.5 in the back too. There are adapters to place a 6.5 inch speaker in a 6x9 hole. You will get best sound quality out of these speakers.

I have 2 4ohm speakers recommended at 500 watts rms - how much watts should they get in parallel at 2 ohms? it's actually one speaker (rockford fosgate pl 3 12") with 2 voice coils. The dual voice coils allow for more wiring options and not adding more power like changing the ohms on an amp. So its still 500w rms with a 1000w peak

If you don't need to have the system blasting you out of the car and haven't bought a player yet, you might consider getting a player with high power output and that may be more than enough to satisfy your needs without resorting to an amplifier. The money you save on the amplifier could be poured into buying a better quality player.

I have 500 and 1000 watt speakers and only a 200 watt cd player. What kind of amp do i need? the front are 500 watt 3 way speakers, and the rear are 1000 watt 6 way speakers. My cd player only has a 200 watt output, what kind of amp do I need? those power ratings on the speakers are too high, if that is for door speakers then you got suckered... you will blow them if you give them 500 watts if it is subwoofers than the rating is more realistic.
Look for CONTINUOUS or RMS power, not peak
get an amp that makes anywhere from 50-100 watts RMS per channel
(your cd player only makes 50 PEAK per channel, 200 peak total)

What is the best system i can get with a built in DVD player and five speakers with 1200 watts, for about $500 i want a new home theater system, but i am confused on which is best, can someone please help me choose, i need about 1200 watts, and a built in DVD player, and five speakers plus a powerful sub. if you own a system with amazing sound and thundering base that you are very impressed with please let me know, thanks very much. P.S. if you know what is so special about panasonic's "360 surround", let me know, and is it worth it. Panasonic is good, but not the best IMHO, but for $500, you are limited to either quality OR quantity -not both. When you're looking for power, don't consider total (i.e. 1,200) watts, focus on (i.e. 100 is an excellent amount for your price point) watts per channel and into 8 Ohms.
Look to Onkyo (doesn't come with a built-in DVD player), Yamaha (comes with a DVD player, although not built-in), JVC, Denon, Harmon/Kardon for a complete system that is as close as possible to what you wanting to accomplish.
It's virtually impossible to meet all of your criteria, but perhaps your best chance will be to look for unique deals on online auction sites (eBay, uBid, AudiogoN, etc.). However, if you're looking for a store that will sell you a complete system (i.e. HTIB), here are several links for you to consider...
