The bigger pipe shaped flashlights unscrew at the bottom. The short, squarish ones with a grab handle, requires the cap over the bulb to be either pried off, or pried off to reveal a screw cap.

Yes! Just find the red (+) and black (-) wires in the unit going to the battery compartment to hook up to. It isn't as easy to carry around, but sure, it will work!
