Well all Core i3 Processors have two cores, i5 Processors have both Two core and four cores depends which model it is and most i7 processors have four.
What is the name of the actual Intel i3/i5/i7 Processor and i can tell you which is better, but i would imagine it will be better than that Intel Core 2 Duo also what is the speed, ie..the Core 2 Duo is 1.3GHz but what is it for the i3/i5/i7?
4GB RAM is fine and so is the Graphics Card. You can play the latest game on Medium to high settings (max) but not Ultra with the Alienware M11x
Yes but what Intel Core i3/i5/i7? There are quite a few i3 models, i5 models and i7 models which one? For example.... "Intel Core i5 450M 2.40GHz" is just one model.

If you can afford it though i would get it with this Processor which is much better but it comes to £1,164.98 in total.....

Better still if you can afford £1,354.98 you can get it with the (this would be my choice)....
Intel Core i7 640UM (4M Cache, 1.20GHz Turbo to 2.266 GHz)

I'll give you the run down, an Intel Core 2 Duo has two cores and two threads while a better processor (like the Core i5 520UM) has two cores but four threads, i'll give you an example.....
Say you had 2, 1 letre empty jugs (jugs can be the cores) that you wanted to fill with water and you had 2, 1 letre pots with water (pots of water can be the threads), it would be fairly quick to fill the 2 jugs as you have 2 pots. This is the Intel Core 2 Duo.
Now say you wanted to fill 2, 1 letre jugs (Cores) but instead of 2, 1 letre pots you now have 4, 1 letre pots! (threads) It will now be twice as quick to fill the jugs, This is the Intel Core i5.
Do you understand? lol
Even though they both have 2 cores, it will be twice as quick if you have 2 more threads because it is acting like you have 4.
I don't want to confuse you even more but you can also get Processors with 4 cores and 4 threads and processors with 4 cores and 8 threads (the latest i7's) which are twice as good as the i5 lol
Another thing Games only use a maximum of two cores anyway and the latest ones out need to have at least a 2.00Ghz Core speed to run it at least on medium which is why i would choose the i7 with a turbo to 2.266GHz because it could handle most games out on a good graphics setting (providing the Graphics Card is good)
The Turbo thing is what the i5 and i7 Processors have when they need extra power (like when you start playing a game) if it needs it the turbo will kick in automatically and boost the speed of the processor so it will run high spec tasks smoother and faster. The Core 2 Duo does not do this.
Basically to answer the question the better processor will process different tasks, whether your playing a game, burning disks or editing it will be much faster and smoother at doing it.

For a gaming computer i think you should have at least 2 cores but for better performance depending on the game i recommend a 3 core or 4 core. You'll need at least 3 gb of ram to run a game properly. Basically the more cores the better and the more ram the better. Don't forget though that you'll also need a good graphics card and a fast processor. For example if i had a dual core running at say 2.34 GHz and my friend had a quad core running at 1.20 GHz then mine might work better because it runs faster. On the downfall the faster the processor the hotting it's going to get so you'll need a good cooling system. And if my friend did have a quad core running slower than mine it might still be as good because it's number of cores make up for it's speed lose.
Is it worth more money? Depends on what game you're trying to run. If it's a high end game with ultra good animation and graphics then yes it's worth the money (don't forget the graphics card has to be good as well). But if it's a low poly game like a game i used to play called mid town madness then it's not worth the money. But i recommend a i3 or if you can a i7 processor.

My computer can run most games on full graphics with no lag. Would the Alienware do the same? -Thanks, Liam All seems good and Alienware are monsters when it comes to gaming but you are missing out the most important factor - your Graphics card. Having that in mind you should consider which card is suitable for your needs and then make a choice.
If we look beyond that I can say that the M11x is a good choice and will do great as a small gaming notebook.

Excel 2007 "3d referencing" help? Hello, I am doing a project for microsoft excel in which I must tally the sum of 5 of my other work sheets into a single cell on one work sheet. I enter this in cell b5 of the MAIN work sheet: =SUM( Then I proceed to click the first work sheet I want to add, hold shift, click the final work sheet i want to add, click the cell I want summed from all of the work sheets, go back to the main worksheet, end the parenthesis and press enter. I then get a message talking about circular refrences. I tell it to allow circular refrences. But even then my value is 0 everytime!!! Please help! I will be keeping an eye on this post all night!!! Cheers! Main sheet cell A1 enter =SUM( then select first sheet, click cell required then a comma, second sheet cell then comma etc. After last cell added add closing parenthesis.
If adding the same cell from each sheet enter =SUM( then select first sheet then SHIFT+ last sheet then cell required then closing parenthesis.

The user just needs to use the filename of the other worksheet in the cell reference, or if the cell is pointing to another tab in the same workbook, that reference can be embedded in the cell.
For example, if you have one workbook with two worksheets called "WKSHT1" and "WKSHT2", you can embed the worksheet names. Let's say you want to automatically update the cell value of B10 on worksheet WKSHT2 into cell A10 on WKSHT1, you can type this formula into cell A10 in WKSHT1.
='WKSHT2'!B10
That is how a 3D cell reference works.

Need help with Excel worksheet!? So on 1 worksheet I have different people's names and what pets they own. Some have dogs, cats birds, etc.Also, next to each person, and what type of pet there is a column with how many dogs they have. Then I have another worksheet, where I must find put the number of dogs each person has. How would I link only the column that has the number of pets each person has, but if I only wanted to choose the numbers that have to do with dogs to the second worksheet? Would I use a sumIF? I know I have to use 3D reference. What should I do?(and I want the total of the dogs in one cell) I tried: =SUMIF(JAN!F2:F510,JAN!Dogs) But all I get is 0. what do I do now? Your question is a little confusing...
I think you want to sum the total number of dogs owned as pets. I would infer that column F contains the pet type, i.e. 'Dog', and that probably column G would contain the pet counts. If so, then this formula will return the total number of dogs:
=SUMPRODUCT(--((F2:F510="Dog") *(G2:G510)))
For other pets, just change "Dog" to "Cat", or "Bird", etc.

Excel Question with formulas? This is complicated - pls bear with me. If, for example, my sales figure in cell A1 on worksheet 1 is 125 and I need to increase this amount by 10% on worksheet 2 (also in cell A1) what would the formula be? In cell A1 on worksheet 2, I have it as Sheet1!A1*(1+10%) but this isn't working out. (have to use 3D reference) How can I copy the function INT to a column of existing numbers / formulas without having to do it individually to each cell? Thanks. =Sheet1!A1+(Sheet1!A1*10%)
