if you get 2 9 volt batteries, would that make 18 volts or would it still be 9 volts? If you put them in series than yes, you get 18 volts across the pair.
If you put them in parallel, you get 9 volts across the pair (and they will be able to power things for a longer period of time or output more current without damaging the batteries).

Never connect the neg and pos terminals of the same battery. This is dangerous.

How long should my Ryobi one+ 18 volt battery last in the 5.5" circular saw? I have the 1/2 drill and circular saw combo. I purchased 2 spare batteries and I was doing some cutting on a few 1/2" sheets of plywood and cross cuts on some spruce 2x4's. The batteries seem to last forever when used in the drill for screwing, but only seem to last about 10 minutes or so when using to saw. I dont know exactly how much cutting I did, but it just seemed like they died extremely quick. Is there a chart or somethign that says I should get x amount of minutes when cutting thru x density of wood. The tools are priced right, but technical support seems to be at a minimum with the Ryobi tools. I also have the same set. The amps that the saw draws is alot more then the drill. It seems that about 10 min of cutting time with the saw is about right. Most cuts with the saw are only about 10-15 sec at the most anyway.

I need to buy a cordless circular saw. How about the Dewalt DC390B 6-1/2-Inch 18-Volt Cordless Circular Saw? Felicia, I tend to lean to Mikes answer here, but a little reminder that it will probably come with an electric charger to charge the battery for reuse. Now with this information ask yourself this; "If your going to use electric anyway", 'why' spend that kind of money when you can add a little to it and buy something that has an electric cord and will be more powerful and last longer. I have a cordless Dewalt-with a 4" blade on it and used it only when I didn`t have any electric available. And again when the battery went dead then I couldn`t cut any more unless I used an old fashion handsaw. If your worried about the weight of this tool then look at a similar size blade electric handsaw with a cord. Hoped this help you make a decision about your purchase on a handsaw. Convert 18 Volt LiPo Battery to 12 Volts Output.? Basically I am using this for Remote Control Applications that basically require that I use 12 Volts on 12 Volt Electric Motors. Each RC Electric Motor draws around 47Amperes at 12 Volts (full load) and the ESC (Electronic Speed Controller) can handle up to 150Amperes so I'll be using 2 motors on the one single ESC and each motor needs 12 Volts. So my question is, how can I reduce the LiPo Battery voltage from 18 Volts to 12 Volts without frying the gear that is converting it down to 12 volts under full load. I don't particularly want to spend big bucks, so I am looking for a cheap method to do this. I've thought about using diodes but I don't think this will work well either. Maybe resistors but I am not sure that I can find some in my local electronic shop that will take the heat that will be generated. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance for any replies. BTW the LiPo Battery has 5 cells Oooops, sorry, its actually 26 Amperes but that is still a large amount. I think I will go with DAVE D's answer because its the cheapest and most logical way forward due to the fact that I won't have to waste any energy and I can reprogram the ESC with an $8 programmer to achieve the desired result. Thanks again everyone :) You need an ESC that can handle the 18 volts (most of them can) then limit the maximum throttle setting so that you do not exceed 12V on the motor. Any other way will have to drop 6 volts at 26 amps, which gives 156 watts of heat to be dissipated. This is not feasible.

can 19.2 volt battery be used instead of an 18.0 volt battery for a sears craftman flashlight? Sears Craftman seem to have changed their standard battery for their removable flashlight/drill/etc from 18.0 to 19.2 volts. Are they interchangeable? It should not make any difference as long as the housings fit.

What do I need to power a motor and 2 LEDs without burning out the LEDs? I have one 12 volt motor and two 3 volt LEDs. I want to put two 9 volt batteries together and give the LEDs 6 of the 18 volts and the motor 12 of the 18 volts. What do I have to do to make that work? If I need resistors which ones do I need? I'm somewhat of a beginner at this. You need a shunt resistor to connect parallel with 2 LEDs. We need to know the current of motor to calculate the resistance value. Let say motor draw 100 mA at 12 volt ,assume LED current to be 20mA. Shunt resistor would be 6 volt / (.1 A - .02 A ) = 6/.08 = 75 ohms.
Resistor wattage = 6 V x .08 A = 0.48 W , use 1 W resistor.
However , If you put the load on the motor LED might be damaged.
I would advise you to use a voltage regulator instead of shunt resistor.

where can I buy 1.2 volt mini c batteries? I want to use these to rebuild my 18 volt dewalt battery They're called "sub C", not "mini C", which might help the search. They come in various sizes called "1/2 C", "2/3 C", "4/5 C", etc.
I've linked the relevant page from a site I've bought cells from in the past. You'll have to check the dimensions carefully against your current cells.
Please note that your original pack probably used spot-welded straps to connect the cells together. You probably can't do that, so you want cells with solder tabs, which is what I linked.

Is it safe to charge my 18 volt drill battery with a charger made for a 20 something volt drill? I have 2 cheap drill batteries. One is 18 volt and the other is 19.2. Both the chargers that came with these drills are junk. One doesn't even turn off when the battery is full and doesn't tell you when its fully charged. I have a charger from a drill I used to have its much nicer charges until full and has a green light to let you know. But its for a 21 volt drill. I would not recomend doing so, but if they are cheap units and you really dont care about damaging the batteries, then try it if the battyer fits into the charger. But..........monitor the amount of time you leave it on the charger, you may blow the batery and cause damage or harm to your propery or yourself. If it were mine, i would toss away the cheapo units and get some good reliable brand name tools with new battery and chargers made for these batteries. the other though would to buy a new charger and battery for the cheapo units. Look on e-bay and match the model # to your old ones.

Is there some place I can send my 18 volt Milwaukee batteries "rebuilt"? I have 5 18 Volt Milwaukee batteries. 3 out of the 5 will not hold a charge. Is there a way I can rebuild them? Is there someplace I can send them to to have them rebuilt? 2 of the 3 batteries that are bad were purchased last May!!! I had the same problem. I had six batteries for my 18V drill that would give out after a year or so. I used mine on the job, so the drill was used almost every day. It got too frustrating and expensive ($80 a pop for a battery), so I gave up and bought a different brand drill. Milwaukee had a recall for some of their batteries. I've included the link below.
