Can anyone suggest the availability of 12 volt DC CFL lamps in Chennai or India? I am looking for information on 12 volt DC CFL lamp suppliers. I am not sure whether DC lamps are yet commonly available in CFL.

Will a ac wall adapter to 10 volt dc work with 12 volt fans? I have a couple fans that require 12 volt dc input, but i was wondering if I could connect them two at a time to the 10 volt dc wall adapter. Would this hurt the fan motors? Also, if I used a wall adapter something like a 15 volt dc wall adapter, would I blow out the motors? Most wall warts, as they are called have a very bad regulation problem. That 10 volts DC is going to be more like 7 volts or less. This is some what dependent on the current demand of the load. More than likely, the 10 volt unit was designed to run a 6 volt device. With that in mind, and the usual regulation of these things, the 15 volt unit may do just fine. I would recommend looking at the current requirement of the fans, and what the current capacity is of the 15 volt wall wart. If the wall wart is capable of supplying the combined current demand of the 2 fans, their current requirement added together, then the wall wart should do just fine. I would do a voltage measurement across the 2 fans, and be ready to unplug them if in fact the voltage across them stays at 15 volts or higher. As for the 10 volt unit, if you use a little trick that sometimes works, the 10 volt unit might support 1 fan. That trick is to get the biggest electrolytic capacitor that you can find, or that you can fabricate using a number of them of the same, or higher voltage (that is, 10, 2000 microfarad capacitors with voltage ranges of 15 volts to 35 volts as an example) to make a voltage reservoir. I would recommend at least 50,000 micro-farads. The bigger the better for your 12 volt fans with a 10 volt supply.

Does anyone know how many Ampere is a car audio device (with an input of 12 DC Volt)? If you need to test a car audio device with a 12 Volt DC power, how many Ampere is needed? eg. 0.500 or 0.800, or something else? depends on the device. a fan will require very very little amperage, while a large amp may require much more.

How can you control a 12 volt DC fan to go on when the temperature gets hot? I want to install a small 12 volt DC fan inside weather enclosure (containing a security camera) to protected it from the summer heat. I want the fan to automatically turn on at 95 degrees to help ventilate the camera. I can only think of installing a thermostat from an air conditioner unit inside the enclosure. Is there a better way. I have visited electronic suppy stores and can’t find anything that would help keep the camera cool. (I have only heaters for these units). Any suggestions? your idea of a thermostat is the best option, use standard mecury switch thermostat supplied by 12 volts to the contacts and wire them in series with the fan. I did the same thing for my storage building except i had the 12volts turn on a relay, and it activated an exhaust fan.

will blocking the output of a dc 12 volt brushless motor hurt it or make it get hot and burn up? I was wondering if while using a dc 12 volt 1 amp. [brushless motor] for ventilation and the duct work becomes blocked or partially blocked or completley blocked will this heat up the motor to the point of hurting it or causing it to become damaged?If the output becomes blocked and the motor stop's turning then will it get hot like a motor with brushes? possibly, depends on where the block is, how big the ducts are, lots of unknowns.
Best to monitor the speed of the motor. If it slows down a lot, then it could overheat.

I need to know what size 12 volt dc motor I need to equate to a 110 volt 1600 rpm 1/70hp ac motor? I am looking to use a dc motor to power a very small, high speed fan. I need it to equate as closely as possible to a 110v 1600 rpm 1/70hp ac motor. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Converting a 12 volt dc device to 110 home current? I have been trying to come up with an economical way to provide LED moon light to my aquariums. I just happened to run across some reasonably priced LED strips. But they are set up for automotive use and a 12 volt dc power supply. What I am wanting to know is, is there a way I can use the lights with standard home current? You need a 12V power supply. Such things are readily available. You'll need one that provides sufficient current, which would be easy as those LED strips don't use much.

You may even find one salvaged, say from a dead electronic device. Check the output specifications. They are almost always listed right on the device. Be sure it's DC, not AC.

Let's figure out how to make a 12 volt DC fan and earn 10 whole points? I want to build a 12 volt dc fan cause here in Ohio it's upto 100 degrees damn near every day where i am. Why 12 volt you ask, it's not specifically for me, it's for the inside of a computer, but i feel like a little DIY project, so i figured i'd have a go at building one myself. So i'm gonna need some kind of motor that runs off 12 volts, one that's preferably about as small as a penny, although a cent sized one should be fine. How would i go about making one of these ? I figure when i get the motor sorted everything else should just be basic DIY, i can make some fan blades really easy, but is there anyway to figure out the optimum number of fan blades to get the maximum air flow ? I'm guessing that that's related to how powerful the motor is. I know it'd be easier just buying one but i feel like building something, and i'm not going to build it and sticking it straight into the computer i'll be testing it out with 2 6volt batteries in series first. That way you are looking for common cheap mass produced parts instead of a low volume (if anybody makes it at all) expensive specialty item.
The first thing to do is include the wattage requirements of the R/O system with your question and how many you plan to make. What country you are in could make a difference also.
Does the R/O system really use AC motors? Or does it just convert the input to DC?
